Better Business Bureau Online Complaints

Posted in Websites on January 28th, 2007

Kudos to the Better Business Bureau’s online complaints website for a job well done. They are responsible for highlighting businesses that buyers should beware of and it’s interesting to see how many home-based businesses fall into that category. Out of them all Ameriplan seems to be the one most hated for its bad business practices. With websites such as Better Business Bureau, it makes the shopper or investor think twice, even more save their
money and their time.

Holiday Spending

Posted in Finance, Rants on January 25th, 2007

Ever notice that when the holidays roll around, you miraculously have more money in your pocket to spend on the stuff that are advertised on TV?
Granted tis the season of giving, but it’s also the time of year when you need to watch how you spend money. Curbing your spending habits around the holiday season would mean more money saved for the New Year. Forget upgrading your 14-inch to a 47-inch TV just for the hell of it. Prioritize and buy only what you need and not what you want.

Cheating Military Wives

Posted in WTF, Odd News, Rants on January 22nd, 2007

The rates of cheating military wives are soaring. Things are much harder for those who have husbands who are deployed for a year or more at a time. One military wife admits that although more guys are pursuing her since her husband has been deployed, her wall of resistance will stay up. She said that she busies herself with home projects in anticipating for her husband’s return and suggests that reaching out to other military wives at online forums also makes the absence easier to deal with.

Freelance Writing: Be Forewarned

Posted in Finance, Rants on January 18th, 2007

As a freelance writer since you are working for yourself you should always try to protect your own interest from online employers, even if they pay you five cents per word. Just recently a woman completed nine articles for a client who promised $65 at the end of the project. Eventually the employer stopped payment on all the checks through Paypal after she handed in the last article.

Writers, safeguard yourself by requesting a portion of advanced payment or by having the employer sign a contract. Forewarned is forearmed.

Breastfeeding in Public

Posted in Odd News on January 16th, 2007

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed a toddler in public? That is the question on the mind of mothers who often wonder if they should give in to their breastfeeding toddler’s wails of hunger in a public setting.
Breastfeeding on the whole is a motherly action that is frown upon by most people especially when done in public. All this can be avoided on both sides if some mothers are considerate enough to not “whip it out” in public, but rather cover it up tastefully making it almost inconspicuous.

Daycare Prices Are Out of Hand

Posted in WTF, Rants on January 7th, 2007

With the price of daycare being what it is today at a whopping $800 per month in some institutions, one wonders if a home daycare may be the more sensible choice. While at-home daycares are priced at the fraction of the cost, environment, health conditions, qualifications and adult supervision per children groups should be taken into consideration.

Don’t let the cheap come out expensive.
