Acne Treatments - What Works?

Posted in Tips, Random Thoughts, Medical, Shopping, Website Reviews on November 1st, 2010

There are hundreds of acne treatments on the market today. They all promise to give the best results and clear up all of your acne problems within a very short period of time. I’ve read numerous reviews of the so-called best acne treatments available and they weren’t the greatest, to say the least. Some of the reviews claimed that if you stop using the product for even a short period of time that your acne would return and be even worse than before you used the acne treatment in the first place. Do yourself a favor and read plenty of reviews before going out and buying any type of acne treatment, acne medication, acne cream or any other “miracle cure” that claimed it will clear up your acne within a matter of days.

Acne Medications

Nobody realizes how a person’s self esteem and ego are affected by having acne. It can cause deep scarring on the face and can be very difficult to get rid of, or cure completely. There are many different types of acne medication on the market today. A person needs to read the label and researching the acne medication also is helpful in choosing the right one. There are a lot of home remedies that many try before actually buying an acne medication. You must read how fast and productive it is, along with many other factors they state on their container or information found while researching everything about specific medication. Some work faster than others. Some of the acne medication has to be used more often than others, which can complicate your daily routine. After researching and reading about all the acne medication you choose to do so with, you may also go on the internet and sometimes get a much cheaper price for a better, or the same, product than you could purchase in a store. There are many different ones to choose from, and you should allow yourself to take the time to read about more than one before buying the first one you see. Acne medication can really be helpful in clearing acne up in a matter of a few weeks, if you choose the right one.

Acne Treatments and Remedies

Posted in Random Thoughts, Health, Medical, Shopping, Website Reviews on March 22nd, 2010

I recently attended a High School sports event at my nephew’s school. There were many high school students there. I went with my sister to the event, since it was her son playing. We always go early so we can get a good place to sit, without having to climb high up on the bleachers and sit as low as possible to the floor. While watching all the teenagers walking in, we both noticed there were several of them that had acne, and was obvious they weren’t receiving any acne treatments for it. It was unbelievable how many of them had it and some cases were severe. A friend of my sister’s sat down beside us, as her son was playing also. Her son was one of the teens that had the acne. Without us saying a word about it, she asked us if we had noticed. We, of course didn’t want to hurt her feelings, or her son’s, so we acted as though we hadn’t noticed. She began telling us how she thought he just was getting some pimples and in treating them unknowingly that it would go into acne, that in only a few months the pimples and blemishes had turned into acne. She took him to the doctor and he told her about an over the counter drug to try first that was one of the least expensive in cost, so she did. It was in the form of a cream, which he applied daily. Within another several months, it was not helping his problem, so she went back to the same doctor. He first told her there are acne treatment procedures that can be done if it gets bad enough or the patient wants faster results or could also use prescriptions to treat the patient at home. He advised her to take him to a dermatologist to determine if it was acne. She then did this. He told her that he did for sure have acne and that is where the scarring has originated from in some of the places on his face. The dermatologist wrote her two prescriptions that were classified as being acne treatments. One was a cream and another was in pill form. That is when he told her it was acne and explained there were many acne treatments on the market today. Depending on the severity of the problem determined which medications, or acne treatments, were necessary. After a long battle of trying many different acne treatments, his complexion on his face has begun to clear up and looks so much better. Until then, I was also unaware that there were so many different acne treatments to try. She said she is now keeping a closer eye on her son’s and also her younger daughter’s face before it becomes as bad as his was.

Which Acne Treatments Actually Work?

Posted in Random Thoughts, Health, Medical, Website Reviews, Rants on October 1st, 2008

We’ve all seen the commercials on television that talk about certain products being the best acne treatments and the new previously unknown cure for acne, but what actually works? I wish I knew. I’m in my late 20’s and I still suffer from acne. I don’t get acne breakouts all of the time, but when I do, they come on strong. I get them on my forehead, my cheeks, my chin and on my nose. I normally have a pretty clear complexion, but when the acne comes on I hate even looking at myself in the mirror. I wish I knew what worked.

Diet Pills Can Work

Posted in Random Thoughts, Health, Medical, Website Reviews on August 26th, 2008

So many people seem to stereotype diet pills after hearing of one bad experience that someone they’ve heard of might have had. This is not only good for the maker of the drug, but for the patient needing it. Diet pills have actually saved a lot of lives. I have personally known some people that were much overweight that their doctors were concerned for their life. Dieting alone and exercising wasn’t helping them lose weight. Two of them had high blood pressure and had already had a couple of heart attacks from being overweight. After they took diet pills that the doctor prescribed for them, they lost the weight, their blood pressure went back to normal and they feel much better. I’m so glad their doctors gave them diet pills and we don’t worry about them and their health so much now.

If you take lots of vacations or often go out of town on business, one of the most important things you can have is travel insurance. If you would (god forbid) become sick while traveling abroad, many insurance providers will not cover you while out of the country. Travel insurance helps to insure that you will receive medical care even while your out of your current insurance provider’s coverage area.

Think About A Medical ID

Posted in Tips, Health, Medical, Shopping, Website Reviews on August 14th, 2008

Recently, my father found out he had blood clots in his leg, which the condition is called deep vein thrombosis. Due to these clots, he was prescribed a blood thinner to take twice a day, to allow the blood to flow easier and prevent more clots from forming. The doctor also advised him that he should get a medical ID that that stated he was on a blood thinner and he had this condition. This way, if he would become unconscious or not alert, the person taking care of him would be aware of this. I think anyone with a disease or serious condition or allergic to something or a medicine should wear one of these at all times. You can get them in a necklace or bracelet and are very inexpensive.

He’s Been Diagnosed With Mesothelioma

Posted in Random Thoughts, Health, Medical, Website Reviews on June 24th, 2008

A friend of mine has an uncle who used to work in construction and his uncle was recently diagnosed with Mesothelioma. It’s really sad that he worked his butt off in the heat and cold for all of those years and all he has to show for it is lung cancer. Everyone is telling him that he should sue someone, but he’s just not that type of person. I really wish him well.

Medical Alert Bracelets Can Save Lives

Posted in Health, Medical, Website Reviews, Technology on May 2nd, 2008

My elderly neighbor has diabetes. Her blood sugar always changes, depending on what she eats. She has to watch closely how much sugar she eats. She tries to eat sugar free candy and other foods. They make medical alert bracelets for people to wear that have different conditions and diseases. People wear them to make other people aware of their medical problems in case of an emergency. Luckily, my neighbor had one of these bracelets and was wearing it when she fainted at a shopping center. Some other shoppers called for an ambulance and when they saw her bracelet that said she had diabetes, they knew right away to check her sugar level and what next step needed to be taken.
