Ghost stories at Mark Twain House and Museum

Posted in Odd News on February 23rd, 2007

Less people may probably visit the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut this Christmas. That is unless they are really curious and into ghost stories. In December of 2005 it was reported that the ghost of Mark Twain’s youngest daughter appeared to be running outside on the grounds apparently playing in the snow. Clearly this was an extra attraction for those who saw the child’s ghost since the house is design to showcase Twain’s literary genius and of course his museum that he once called home.

Grocery Lists Anyone?

Posted in Shopping, Odd News on February 18th, 2007

Remember that old grocery list that your mother and grandmother used to take along to the supermarket? It should be reintroduced if only to curb people’s spending habits. It is easy to get carried away when at the grocery store.
You go in, pick up items that look good on the shelves and by the time you get home, you’re missing the key elements like sugar, rice or even salt. Grocery lists are a rare sighting when shopping but one that would help you to remember why you visit the store in the first place - to get the essentials without the tempting impulsive buying detours.

What Is It With So-Called “Dollar Stores”

Posted in WTF, Odd News, Rants on February 8th, 2007

They call them “Dollar Stores” but the prices one will pay for the majority of items in store turns out to be more than four quarters worth. Why are people so fascinated with shopping at these stores? It can’t be the prices because they are just as competitive as other superstores such as Wal-Mart.

It is definitely not the quality of products because some of the products I’ve seen on the shelf are inferior and in bad condition. Believe me I’ve wiped a few dusts from off items at these stores more than once.

Clearly dollar stores are winning people over with location since they are located practically everywhere within a neighborhood.

Breastfeeding in Public

Posted in Odd News on January 16th, 2007

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed a toddler in public? That is the question on the mind of mothers who often wonder if they should give in to their breastfeeding toddler’s wails of hunger in a public setting.
Breastfeeding on the whole is a motherly action that is frown upon by most people especially when done in public. All this can be avoided on both sides if some mothers are considerate enough to not “whip it out” in public, but rather cover it up tastefully making it almost inconspicuous.
