HDMI Wall Plates

I was at a local electronics store yesterday and I saw some cool looking HDMI wall plates. I had previously never even heard of an HDMI wall plate, but I was talking to one of the guys who works there and he said that they are actually becoming very popular. I’m thinking about installing a few of them in my house. Quality video is very important to me, especially while watching movies.

Replacing My Computer’s Video Card

Posted in Gift Ideas, Shopping, Website Reviews, Technology on May 4th, 2008

Lately I’ve been checking out different video cards for my computer. My old video card stopped working for some reason and I’ve been using this really cheap $15 backup video card that I keep in case my good card goes out. My cheap backup card doesn’t have tv-out or anything fancy, so I can’t do everything I normally do with my more expensive card. I need to find a new one in a hurry.

Medical Alert Bracelets Can Save Lives

Posted in Health, Medical, Website Reviews, Technology on May 2nd, 2008

My elderly neighbor has diabetes. Her blood sugar always changes, depending on what she eats. She has to watch closely how much sugar she eats. She tries to eat sugar free candy and other foods. They make medical alert bracelets for people to wear that have different conditions and diseases. People wear them to make other people aware of their medical problems in case of an emergency. Luckily, my neighbor had one of these bracelets and was wearing it when she fainted at a shopping center. Some other shoppers called for an ambulance and when they saw her bracelet that said she had diabetes, they knew right away to check her sugar level and what next step needed to be taken.

My New Laptop Computer

Posted in Gift Ideas, Shopping, Website Reviews, Technology on May 1st, 2008

I travel on my job a lot. Usually wherever I have to travel to, the office I go to usually has a desktop computer. I never really thought about purchasing a laptop computer until recently. After having to stay overnight on layovers on different flights, I decided a laptop computer would come in handy. I finally bought one and it has really come in handy. In most motels, they have hookups in all the rooms, where you can plug your computer in and use the internet while staying there. It keeps me from getting behind in my work and I can also type emails and other documents during my stay.

RapidShare Premium Account

A friend of mine is always using RapidShare (www.RapidShare.com) to find stuff like new television episodes and music videos. I never really knew much about RapidShare other than you could download stuff using it. He was showing me some stuff at work on his “premium account” and it really seems pretty cool. You can get a RapidShare premium account for around twelve bucks a month and download just about anything you want. The only real restriction that I saw was a 25gb per-five-days limit, meaning you cant download over 5gb worth of stuff in a 5 day period. I honestly don’t think I’ve downloaded over 5gb worth of stuff since I’ve had the internet, so this seems like a really good deal for me. He said you can find all kinds of things on RapidShare, even movies and video games. I don’t really download anything like music or that kind of stuff, but I do like making custom DVD’s of music videos and such. I think I’m going to give RapidShare a try for a month and see how I like it.

Upgrading To Fiber Internet

Posted in Internet, Website Reviews, Technology on February 11th, 2008

They recently installed a new Cat5e patch panel in my office. They’ve been doing alot of remodeling and they recently replaced their entire computer network with a much faster fiber optic internet provider. I didn’t think there would be much of a difference, but the difference is amazing. The new fiber internet is so much faster. I wish they offered residential fiber internet where I live.

Posted in Gift Ideas, Shopping, Website Reviews, Technology on November 14th, 2007

I was looking through some of the black Friday ads that leaked and i noticed that Target will have a 500gb Western Digital external hard drive for only $87.00. Thats a great price. I think I will probably pick up a couple of them. I’m always using my external hard drive at work and I’ve been wanting one for my home office, so I think this will be the perfect time and price to pick a couple up.

New Radar Detector

Posted in Gift Ideas, Shopping, Automotive, Website Reviews, Technology on October 11th, 2007

My office had a little contest the other day and I won a new radar detector. I had previously never really even thought about buying a radar detector, but I have to admit, I really love it. It works so much better than I could have imagined and it actually saved me from a speeding ticket the first day I put it in my car. I would recommend it to everyone.

Digital Frame

Posted in Gift Ideas, Shopping, Website Reviews, Technology on October 1st, 2007

A while back my girlfriend and I picked up a digital frame for my brother. After seeing how great the display quality was, I really wanted one for myself. I finally purchased one the other day from Buy.com. I picked up the NuVue NV-700 7” model for right around 80 bucks. It has built in 256mb memory so you can play and store up to 1450 photos. It plays images, audio and video and has built in stereo speakers. I really couldn’t be happier with it.
